Three Hearts Viaduct with Mario Covas Avenue

The city of Belém (PA) is preparing to host COP30, the world conference on climate change that will take place in 2025.

As part of the infrastructure works aimed at urban mobility and the reception of international delegations, construction has begun on the Viaduto dos Três Corações (Three Hearts Viaduct) at Avenida Mário Covas, one of the most important projects for local traffic.

With a challenging deadline of only three to four months, the project required meticulous technical planning and efficient execution. SH was responsible for the executive shoring project and the supply of equipment, including shoring, formwork, and the Modex® SH modular staircase, directly contributing to meeting the schedule and ensuring the safety of the structure.

More than just meeting the demands of a major event, the viaduct represents a permanent legacy for Belém, improving mobility and the quality of life for the population.

Challenges

The main challenge of this project was the tight execution time, as the viaduct needed to be completed before COP30. The tight schedule demanded assertive decisions from the initial planning stages and total integration between the construction and SH teams.

In addition to the deadline pressure, it was a large-scale structure, requiring safe and efficient technical solutions to guarantee stability and productivity throughout all stages. Coordination between the engineering, procurement, and assembly teams was fundamental to enabling the simultaneous progress of the work fronts without compromising quality.

SH Performances and Solutions

SH was involved from the outset in the design of the shoring project, developing a complete technical solution compatible with the client’s schedule. The project was developed in a clear, objective, and technically sound manner, prioritizing speed in the assembly and disassembly of the systems.

With frequent meetings between the technical departments and the field team, SH planned the supply point by point, ensuring that each stage of the structure received adequate support. The result was on-time execution and full compliance with the required safety standards.

Anticipation in planning and synergy with the client were decisive factors for the successful delivery.

SH Impact

SH participated from the conception of the shoring project, developing a complete solution aligned with the client’s schedule. In this project, we supplied almost all the main systems from the SH portfolio — Tekko SH®, Concreform SH®, Modex® SH, Modex Staircase, Circular Formwork, LTT, LTT Extra, and New Jersey.

The use of almost 100% metal equipment ensured speed, safety, and a reduction in the project timeline. With advance planning and integration between the technical and field teams, each stage received the necessary support, resulting in on-time execution and full compliance with safety standards.
