In this project, SH’s integrated approach was crucial for ensuring safety, productivity, and full compliance with the project timeline.
The Challenge: Complex Structures and Tight Deadlines
The Biomass Yard is a critical structure responsible for the storage and handling of biomass, ensuring the efficient operation of Braskem’s facility. However, the complexity of this project demanded advanced engineering strategies and robust structural systems.
Key challenges included:
- The execution of unique structures, such as mast pillars and the “pinheirinho” (used for storing and distributing pine bagasse);
- The need for effective material logistics, in order to prevent excessive accumulation on-site;
- Strict deadlines, requiring meticulous scheduling and execution;
- The search for adaptable, modular solutions to meet the evolving demands of the project.

To overcome these obstacles, SH developed a strategy centered on integration. This included ongoing collaboration between the client’s technical team and SH’s Commercial, Technical Assistance, and Projects departments. As a result, frequent coordination meetings enabled agile equipment allocation, optimized resource use, and reduced overall project costs.
Moreover, SH’s modular and reusable formwork and shoring systems provided the flexibility and speed necessary to keep the project on track. This allowed for better adaptation during each phase of construction and ensured high levels of safety and performance.

Additionally, the partnership with subcontractor MVCON and the synergy between SH’s technical and commercial teams were instrumental in meeting quality, safety, and deadline requirements.
