Bridge over Railway Line in Natal: Precision Engineering for Urban Mobility
The city of Natal (RN) has taken another step forward in the modernization of its urban infrastructure with the construction of a new bridge over the railway line, located next to the VLT operation. The project replaces an old crossing considered critical, bringing positive impacts to more than 70 thousand people who depend on public transportation and traffic in the western zone of the capital of Rio Grande do Norte.
The main challenges of the work, carried out by Certa Construções Civis e Industriais LTDA, were the limited space for construction, due to its proximity to the railway line in operation, and the complexity of the final slab structure, which required suspended shoring for spans of 9 meters and 45 cm thick. These factors demanded rigorous technical solutions and meticulous planning to ensure safety and precision.
To meet these requirements, SH provided a complete package of solutions adapted to the challenging conditions of the project. Concreform SH® Formwork ensured productivity and precision in the execution of the slab, while the SH100 truss was essential for the suspended shoring of large spans with structural stability. The Modex® SH access system facilitated work in a restricted environment and at different levels, even with the constant flow of the VLT.
C12 and C7.5 metal tubes and profiles were also incorporated into the solution, adding versatility to stabilize structures and adapt the shoring to the conditions of the work and the terrain. The entire process was guided by detailed structural analyses, ensuring the correct distribution of loads and efficiency at each stage of the execution.
From the initial studies to the final concreting, SH acted with consulting engineering, technical monitoring and personalized support in the field. This integration was crucial to guarantee the safety of the work, eliminate a road retention point and contribute directly to the improvement of urban traffic and public mobility in Natal.
